A Pause Became a Dream

From finance and education to relaxation and wellness – we’re Signe and Jonas Klit, and this is the story of how PAUSE came to life.

Out into the world – and home with a vision

PAUSE recovery studio didn’t begin as a business idea. It began as a dream.
After 10 years in our respective careers – Signe as a teacher and project manager focused on workplace health, and Jonas Klit in a leadership role in the financial world – we felt something had to change.

We had long dreamed of building something together from the ground up.

In 2018, we took the leap. We left our secure jobs, packed our backpacks, and set off around the world with our two-year-old twin boys – searching for inspiration for the next chapter in our lives.

Halfway through the journey, in Santa Cruz, California, Jonas came across an article about floating in a local weekly paper. The next day, we both tried it – and the experience struck something deep in us. In the following weeks, we visited several newly opened studios in Los Angeles offering floating, infrared heat and cryotherapy – and the idea started to take shape:

What if we brought this to Aarhus – a place where nothing like it existed, not in Denmark and not anywhere else in Scandinavia?

From idea to reality on Frederiks Plads

In early 2019, we got started. We found the location, planned the design, brought in contractors, ordered equipment, and built the website.

And on September 21, 2019, we opened the doors to PAUSE – a different kind of wellness studio in the heart of Aarhus, where guests can experience deep calm, rest and modern wellness.

Much has remained the same since then – and some things have grown.
In 2023, we expanded with full-body cryotherapy and red light therapy. Today, we offer a full palette of modern wellness experiences:
Floating, infrared sauna, recovery boots, red light therapy and full-body cryotherapy.

We’re still located on Frederiks Plads, with our roots firmly planted in the Aarhus soil.

Growing – while holding on to stillness

Now in 2025, we continue to run a thriving studio with a team of 8 dedicated colleagues in the heart of Aarhus.
Aside from the quiet corona years in 2020 and 2021, we’ve seen steady growth – and we clearly feel how more and more Danes are prioritizing time for themselves, calmness, and new experiences.

PAUSE was born from our own longing for stillness – and we’re truly grateful that so many of you have made it your pause, too. 💛
